3D Gel Number Plates

What are 3D gel number plates?

A 3D gel plate starts life as a printed reflective plate. Each character is then covered with a clear polyurethane gel resin that sets into a smooth, raised dome. The result is a character you can feel with your fingertips, with light bending across the curve so the registration looks far deeper than flat print.

Because the gel is applied over the printed character rather than cut from acrylic, the edges stay soft and rounded. That is the quickest way to tell 3D gel apart from 4D: gel is smooth and glossy, 4D is sharp and square.

Why choose 3D gel

• The best value way to move away from a plain printed plate.
• Hard-wearing, UV stable gel that keeps its gloss through washing and weather.
• Available road legal to the British Standard, or as a show plate.
• Works on standard, short and hex sizes, and as a front plate, rear plate or pair.
• Can be combined with a printed or 4D border, or ordered on a tinted plate as a show plate.

Sizes and options

Standard UK car plates are 520 × 111 mm. Short plates are available at 406 × 111 mm (16") and 457 × 111 mm (18") where your registration and plate recess allow. Hex and drip designs can be ordered road legal where the selected configuration meets our requirements, or as show plates.

In the builder you can add a border, choose a tinted plate for show use, or mix and match so the front and rear are built differently.

How to order

Everything is built in one place. Open the plate builder, type your registration, choose your size and style, then pick a front plate, rear plate, matching pair or a Mix & Match pair. You will see your registration on screen in the style you have selected before you pay.

Next-day UK delivery available, with free delivery on orders over £55 (£5.99 below that). Order before 12:00 PM Monday to Saturday for same-day dispatch. Free adhesive pads are included with every plate order, and a fixing kit with colour-matched screw caps can be added in the builder.

Road legal or show plate

Choose road legal and your plates are made to the British Standard layout and spacing required for UK road use, including the correct font, character sizes and supplier markings. Once your order is placed we contact you on WhatsApp to collect your V5C and photo ID before anything is made.

Choose show plate and you can go further with sizes, borders, tints and effects. Show plates are supplied for off-road display, exhibitions and photography, and are not for use on UK public roads.
